When his life is hard
When he is looking for work
May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish for us the work of our hands—yes, establish the work of our hands!
Psalm 90:17
The repeated no can wear a person down, and I ache for my son as he looks for work. I want to find the right opening, put his name into the right hands, and spare him the quiet discouragement of being passed over. I cannot open every door, Father, but I can bring him faithfully to You.
Establish the work of his hands. Lead him toward employment where his abilities can be used well and where he can earn what he needs with dignity. Give him clear judgment about which opportunities to pursue, courage for each application and conversation, and patience when an answer takes longer than he hoped.
Protect his sense of worth while he waits. A job can provide purpose and provision, but it does not determine the value of his life. Remind him that he is still capable, still needed, and still deeply loved on days when the search makes him question all three.
Show me how to support him without turning every conversation into a progress report. Keep my concern from sounding like pressure. If I can offer practical help, make me generous and respectful. When there is nothing for me to do, help me remain hopeful without making promises I cannot make. Sustain my son through each disappointment, and prepare him to meet the next opportunity with steadiness and courage.
