My own heart
When I cannot stop worrying
Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.
1 Peter 5:7
The house is quiet, but my mind will not be still. I bring You every fear circling around my son tonight, every imagined disaster, every question that has no answer. You care for me, Father, so I do not have to carry all of this alone.
My thoughts keep reaching for tomorrow, trying to prepare for pain before it comes. I picture conversations that may never happen and dangers that may never arrive. I know worry cannot protect my son, yet knowing that does not always quiet me. Please meet me here with patience. Take each what if as it rises, and help me place it into Your care.
My son is beyond the reach of my watchful eyes, but he is never beyond Yours. Be near him tonight. Give him wisdom for the choices before him, strength for what he must face, and people he can call when he needs help. Where I have good reason for concern, show me what love requires. Where fear is inventing trouble, help me recognize it and let it pass.
Settle my breathing and loosen my grip. Let sleep come as an act of trust. Morning will bring what it brings, and Your care will already be there. Tonight, I give You my son, my questions, and this tired heart.
