Between him and me
When his choices trouble me
Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To his own master he stands or falls. And he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand.
Romans 14:4
I bring You the choices my son makes that trouble me. Some seem unwise to me, and some touch convictions I hold deeply. I do not want concern to turn me into his judge, but I confess how easily fear and disappointment can take that place.
He is a grown man, responsible before You for the life he lives. Help me honor that truth without becoming indifferent. Give me courage to speak when love requires honesty, and restraint when speaking would only relieve my feelings or press him toward my approval. Let my words be clear, measured, and free from contempt.
Father, guard me from keeping a private record of his failures. If he has broken trust, show me what wise boundaries and honest forgiveness can look like. If I have judged by appearances or assumed motives I cannot know, correct me gently and thoroughly.
I ask You to work in my son's conscience, his decisions, and his keeping of his word. Give him integrity when a promise becomes costly. Give him wisdom to recognize harm and humility to make things right. And give me faith to remember that his life is held before You. I can love him faithfully without excusing everything, controlling everything, or standing where only You belong.
