When he is far from God
When he does not believe
It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
1 Corinthians 13:7
You know that my son does not share my faith, and You know the fear this awakens in me. I think about what life may cost him without the hope I have found in You. I miss speaking freely with him about prayer, grace, and Jesus. Still, he is not a problem for me to solve. He is my beloved son.
Teach me the kind of love that bears, hopes, and endures without becoming forceful. Keep fear from turning my words sharp or making every visit feel like an argument waiting to happen. Help me honor his honesty, listen carefully to his reasons, and answer without defensiveness when he asks what I believe.
I ask for more than agreement or religious language. Let him encounter what is true. Show him the beauty of Christ, the mercy of the cross, and the freedom of forgiveness in ways I cannot arrange. Surround him with people whose faith is humble, thoughtful, and alive. Give him courage to seek, even if seeking begins with questions he is reluctant to voice.
Whatever lies ahead, do not let this difference hollow out our relationship. Make my love spacious enough for honest conversation and steady enough for silence. I place my fear before You, Father, and ask for grace to love him as he is today.

Jesus replied, “Before Philip called you, I saw you under the fig tree.” “Rabbi,” Nathanael answered, “You are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!”
2 Corinthians 4:6-7For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made His light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
